Using Acid Dyes, this class will focus on techniques used to produce color safely on fibers and rovings without felting or damage to the fiber. We will explore what happens when the base fiber is not white, low water immersion dying, microwave dying, and crockpot dyeing. Dyes will be in dry form and in pre-mixed liquid form for this class. Students will receive a variety of fibers and rovings and are encouraged to bring items from their own stash.

Student Materials List: Old clothes or an apron, good rubber or nitril gloves, note taking and labeling materials, plastic bags to transport damp fibers and roving and fiber from their stash for dyeing .

Please bring $25.00 for dyeing supplies including approximately 1 lb. various fibers and blends, use of dyeing equipment, handouts, and dyes used in the class.
