Core Spun Yarns
Taught by Lonna Alexander-Steele

Sunday - 1pm to 4pm                                                                                                                 
Class Fee: $50
Amateur - Student must be able to spin a continuous yarn on their wheel.

Core Spun Yarns PhotoWe will discuss what a Core Spun yarn is, how to spin some of the most common styles and what materials are necessary to make Core Spun yarns. We will spin boucle, halo or cloud yarns, knot, and bump yarns with an eye toward designing for a specific project. We will discuss a variety of materials and how to best spin them into useable yarns. The class will ply and cable commercial and hand spun yarns into fabulous new novelties.

NOTE: Students will have packets with a variety of animal fibers, fleece, prepared fiber, top and roving. Core yarns and plying yarns will be provided as well as prepared batts of material for “Trashy Yarns”.

Student Materials List: Bring your spinning wheel, several bobbins, all accessories, oil, a kate if you have one, any singles that you have at the time, second hand store yarns and threads. Note taking materials and labeling materials may be needed.

Please bring $10.00 for spinning supplies that will be provided for you.
