Judie
Overbeek
is
a Montana spinner, weaver and dyer. She began weaving over 35 years
ago with a two-harness table loom and an armful of acrylic yarns. She
began spinning about four years later in Australia while living there
for two years. The women in the local guild taught her to spin and
showered her with merino wool. After returning to Montana in 1977,
she joined Alpine Weavers and Spinners at Big Fork and has been a
member ever since, enjoying the benefits of connection with talented
and committed people locally and throughout the Northwest. Judith
MacKenzie has been her spinning mentor.A love of process and a deep
desire to share her skills keeps her involved in these inexhaustible
crafts both as student and teacher. Her “day job” is elementary
reading specialist and she teaches spinning, weaving and dyeing
throughout the Northwest in her “spare” time.
