Shibori Dyeing
Taught by Judie Overbeek

Sunday - All Day, beginning at 9am
Beginner and up
Class Fee: $75

Japanese have long used shaping and securing cloth before dyeing to create intricate and beautiful patterns. Four traditional methods are taught in this class: stitching, pole wrapping, clamping and knotting. Participants will receive three silk scarves with which to explore these systems. Procion fiber-reactive dyes are provided, they are non-toxic and require no cooking. It is fun, experimental, creative and – not surprisingly – no two results are alike.

MATERIALS FEE: $20, includes handouts, three silk scarves, dyes and etc

WHAT TO BRING: rubber gloves, heavy-duty sewing thread and needle, notebook, eyeglasses (!), scissors, three old towels. It would be nice to have several irons and boards, and a drying rack is always appreciated.
