Navajo Style Weaving
Taught by Bonnie Barcus

Sunday - All Day, beginning at 9am
Class Fee: $65

This class will give students a quick introduction to the process of setting up a Navajo style loom.  This includes: warping, selvage cord, attaching the warp to the dowels, edging cord set up, and tensioning of the loom for weaving.  Each student will learn some basic weaving techniques; stripes, changing colors, vertical color changes within a row, changing vertical pattern, and a few fun things.  True diagonal patterns and multiple heddle weaving will be discussed and demonstrated.  Students need to bring a loom, batton and weaving comb to work on and three to four colors of single ply yarn (Lopi works well).

Note:  I can provide looms for purchase with dowels, shed rods, and a batton, provided I am notified of this by May 1st.  See my webpage for sizes and prices at http://www.spindancechurros.com/looms.htmlCombs as well as looms are also available from Weaving Southwest http://www.weavingsouthwest.com/items/navajo.html

Material Fee: $10
